Описание Nirvana - MTV Unplugged In New York (1 LP) - (hq)

MTV Unplugged in New York is a live album by American rock band Nirvana, released on November 1, 1994 by DGC Records. This is a recording of a performance for the MTV Unplugged music television show. The concert took place on November 18, 1993 and was one of Nirvana''s last television shoots. In addition to the main line-up of the band, the recording was attended by former The Germs guitarist Pat Smear and cellist Laurie Goldston, as well as the Kirkwood brothers from the alternative rock band Meat Puppets. The album was produced by Scott Litt and Alex Coletti. The show was directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller and aired on MTV on December 16, 1993. Despite the tacit concept of the project''s management, Nirvana focused on lesser known material and cover versions, covering songs by The Vaselines, David Bowie, Huddy Leadbelly and the Meat Puppets. Unlike previous concerts in the Unplugged series, which were entirely acoustic, the band used electric amplification and guitar effects during the performance. The musicians until the last doubted whether they should participate in the corporate program, and were also not sure of their musical skills. As a result, according to the editors of Rolling Stone, they gave the best concert of their career and one of the best live performances of all time. Subsequently, the leader of R. E. M. Michael Stipe noted that Kurt Cobain planned to move in just such a musical direction - intending to record a quiet, acoustic disc. This opinion was shared by journalists. The recording was released on audio and video media seven months after Cobain''s death, which canceled plans to release it as part of the Verse Chorus Verse compilation. The album debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 and was later certified 8x platinum by the RIAA. In 1996, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album, the only award of its kind ever given to the band. Subsequently, some media representatives considered the concert as Cobain''s "lifetime" funeral, drawing attention to the funeral entourage of the room, the design of which was directed by the musician himself, as well as the references to death in five of the six cover versions performed in the program. Nirvana is a cult American rock band, formed by vocalist/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Several drummers have changed in the band; the longest-serving drummer with the band was Dave Grohl, who joined Cobain and Novoselic in 1990. In 1989, Nirvana became part of the Seattle music scene with the release of their debut album, Bleach, on the indie label Sub Pop. After signing to major label DGC Records, Nirvana found unexpected success with the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their second album, Nevermind, released in 1991. Subsequently, Nirvana entered the musical.
