The Epson LS-800 is a nice projector. The picture is bright, and viewable under minimal dimming on a bare wall. Unlike many other Ultra short throws, it has a 3-chip technology which does not have the "rainbow effect" that many viewers (such as myself) have. I am comparing this product with a Samsung Freestyle, a circa 2011 (long-throw) Epson projector, and a recently returned a LG CineBeam HU915QB.Unfortunately, the product lacks some basic features that make it difficult to recommend until these issues are resolved: it does not support Netflix (!) or Airplay. This is something that competing projectors, such as those from LG and Samsung do have, and makes the device annoying to use. It is also less convenient to alternate between bluetooth headphones and speakers compared with other systems.The LG CineBeam HU915QB is a superior choice if one does not experience a "rainbow effect", which some people experience to a greater or lesser extent with laser projectors—for me it's very distracting; for my wife it's perceivable but not distracting). In terms of image quality, the LS-800 is good, but not nearly as the (more expensive) LG. Other projectors, such as the older Epson, the Samsung, and the LG, have more advanced settings for color adjustments, which can be helpful for users that are not using an UST projector screen. The LG projector also has a much faster and more convenient interface for switching to bluetooth headphones (e.g., AirPods) relative to the Epson and Samsung projectors.I hope that Epson releases updates to their OS to allow for Netflix, Airplay, and more advanced color correction. If it does this, it will be the best product on the market, but for now I'd suggest waiting for an OS update or a more affordable projector with comparable specs from a competing company.Audio quality for the LS-800 is not bad, and better than the LG CineBeam HU915QB and Samsung Freestyle. However, the audio range and clarity of dialogue isn't as good as I'd prefer and might still consider a sound bar. Other projectors such as the recent Formovie models are supposed to have even better audio. If you care about sound and don't want an external audio system, you may want to wait for newer models to come out.
