The interior volume is slightly smaller than expected due to some reinforcing webs but it was a smart design sacrifice to deliver the sturdy and weatherproof product. For my application, I needed to drill a couple of holes (.625 and .25) to pass camera cables through. The material was solid without chipping and pliable without galling. The solidity and structure of the box was not at all compromised by the holes. I was pleasantly surprised to note that the mounting holes for the box were well designed for a rock solid mount (pretty critical for a camera) and the gasket was an optimal length, requiring neither stretch nor cut.
