I would never use a slip-on shoe for running. That being said, these are good for canoeing and kayaking. I also use them on my elliptical trainer and for moderate strength training. The low price tag makes me believe I'll get 6 months to a year of used out of them, but that's okay. They are a convenient secondary set of shoes for general use only. I'm not giving them 5 stars because there is not enough support in the upper for them to be a running or aerobic shoe.
