The unit is packaged beautifully - depending on the person, it would actually make a lovely gift. But like I said, you'd have to really know the person, so that they don't take it the wrong way. The machine is extremely quiet, and it runs cordlessly - the discs have a raised surface on them to help exfoliate the skin. It's also got a bit of suction to it which helps to slough off old dead skin too. There are teeny filters that you put under the tips to help catch those dead skin flakes, and they give you quite a few extras to last for a long while.While its too early to make any real determination on how much my skin might be changing, I can at least say that I'd highly give two thumbs up for the way my skin feels after a few uses.
