I was hopeful when ordering this foam play mat, which is beautiful, but unfortunately it had a strong chemical smell the moment we opened it. Hoping the smell was temporary. I placed the set in our upstairs loft to air out but quickly the entire house was overwhelmed with the smell. After an hour or so I moved it to the garage to finish airing out.After 2 or 3 weeks of airing out, the smell had lessened somewhat but the entire garage smelled every time we opened the door. Finally, there was no way we were going to let our child play on the mat, just inches from its surface, so we sent it back. Very disappointed with the product but customer service made the return easy.
