The spring loaded ball retrievers are my favorite because you can hover over the ball and simply press down releasing the trap and securing the ball. They are typically designed with a small lever catch to prevent the trap from unloading until you are using it. This model had a poorly engineered (or manufactured) catch lever that would deploy and prevent the trap from springing when using. My answer was to simply rip that (fairly cheap plastic) lever off the device. It is working just fine.Time will tell if the quality is acceptable. It feels a bit cheap compared to the previous one of the same kind (not maker) that I had.
