I have a weakness for notebooks. ESPECIALLY in or around the 5x8 size range. I also prefer grid or dot pages to lined and that’s why these caught my eye. The paper is just a little heavier than regular notebook paper, but is still fairly slick, more for dry media like pencil or ink than for watercolor. The 2nd pic shows some of the pens I tried out. I colored on the back side of the page out to the right and while you can see the shadow, it didn’t bleed through, even with the watercolor brush pens. The bottom one I went over about three times and the paper didn’t start to show fibers or bleed through, so you could do marker, but you wouldn’t want to use both sides of that page. The covers are a glazed looking plastic, so they won’t tear up easy and this is a great size to stick in your purse or backpack for lists or notes. The sticky tabs are adhesive only on half, so you can use them for page tabs and they’re pretty typical in that if you write on them with a gel ink pen, you’ll need to let them dry for a moment so the writing doesn’t smear. I almost always use a ballpoint on those, so not a problem for me! The wire binding is loose enough that the book lays flat wherever you open it, doesn’t stick out way too far from the book and the pages turn easily. These would make a great assignment book, journal or project book (what I’m using it for). Great value!
