I wanted to wait until I had washed a pair before rating them. I'm just disgusted. Right out of the pack they looked like socks for a youth. My husband has wide feet, size 10, thick legs, and is diabetic. I have lost count of the packages of socks I have now given away. Usually this is because they are way too narrow and small even before being washed. Correct sizing and preshrinking is apparently a lost artform in the making of socks or underwear these days. I compared the washed socks with the ones in the package; even though these did not shrink, they were just too narrow and small to begin with. The upper part of the sock has a really good knit pattern that is quite good for a diabetic leg (although crew length is not the best). No problem there. The body of the sock is very soft, but narrow and way too short. I've a mind to order another set in the larger size (I believe these socks are 10-13) just to see if that would make a difference. These say crew socks and they are crew socks, too, so these do not go up very high on the leg. All in all, it is not a horrible sock; the body is just narrow and short. It has a decent leg and cuff. If you have thin feet and thin legs it may work fine for you. My husband's feet are thick, wide, and his legs are thick. These will no doubt be another batch to give away. What a disappointment, given some of the rave reviews from other folk.
