Sopoby wire connector and seal. I had some qualms initially about this method in general, but after some testing I am definitely a convert! This selection covers many different wire sizes. The ability to solder and protect at the same time is fabulous.I did a bit of testing.attaching 2 photos here. On the larger wire size, I cut the cover plastic back to reveal the solder flow. The process was done with a mini-torch. The plastic is MUCH tougher than typical heat-shrink tubing, and with a bit of care, it's easy to get the solder to flow without any damage to the tubing. The mini-torch capability means these connectors can be used in quite close quarters (again, using prudence). One can see, through the tubing, how well the solder flowed, and also how well the wire has been gripped. I'm thinking the colored bands, other than identifying the wire size, also serve to grip and weather-proof the joint, since they appear to be even more tightly gripped around the wire insulation than the clear tubing. Great product!
