I am a 29 year old male and I had a hip repair surgery in October 2019. Its middle of January and I have been using these weights to aid in my recovery for a couple weeks. I started at 2lbs on my affected leg and am using 3 lbs now [(I am doing seated leg extensions(leg lifts)]. As a side note, I was in the hospital for 8 weeks in total for my initial recovery period and I experienced significant muscle atrophy in both of my legs. It took me a couple weeks to get to maximum strength with using no weights. So I purchased these and I can safely say that these weights have been an essential and effective part of my recovery. I can't say that they will work for everyone but they work perfectly for me.I feel the need to mention that you can add or remove small bags of sand or something to add or reduce the weight, but my comment is that it is easy to remove the bags from the main body but is actually somewhat difficult to put them back in properly. If you have weak hands or poor had dexterity, you may struggle adding the weights back once removing them. This is the ONLY reason I rate this product a 4 not 5 stars because otherwise this product is high quality and well made!
