I love these pencils! The colors are beautiful and can be mixed together for various shades. They blend easily and lay down very fast. I would recommend using the coloursoft pencils with paper that have more tooth, rather than smooth paper, since they won't be able to hold the blending and layering that well. Also, I would advise against using solvents, rubbing alcohol, thinning agents, etc. as I find them to muddy up the colors, and why ruin already vibrant and beautiful colors? It's best to blend them with the blending pencil (sold separately) or the white pencil.Pros: Very beautiful colors, blends easily, layers quickly and smoothly, lightfast, the thicker barrel protects the lead from breaking when sharpening, more affordable than other popular brand of soft lead colored pencils.Cons: Since they are soft lead, they don't hold a sharp point for very long.If you are someone who likes working with precise details, then these aren't the pencils for you. If you like blending with solvents, then these aren't for you either. But, I do find that the pros outweighs the cons. If you are someone who is looking to upgrade to more artist quality colored pencils, but can't afford to shell out a lot of money, then I would recommend these. The Derwent Coloursoft pencils work just as good as the more expensive soft lead colored pencils out there.
