I may keep these simply because I have them and need socks (or maybe not), but these socks do not have any special extra padding in the areas they mention and point out. In fact, the entire sock is the same thickness all around. I was looking specifically for socks that add EXTRA padding in the metatarsal area; these did not. It's just a different color threading in that area, that's all. Same thickness as the rest of the sock. Not happy.
