Since 2022 I have had an iMac 21.5" late 2022, still with a 1080p display Having learned about the release of the iMac 27 "2022, after looking at the prices, I decided to upgrade. I bought, like many probably, the most inexpensive junior model with an i10500, a Radeon Pro 5300 and a 256gb SSD with the usual glossy glass. Compared to my old poppy, it's still space! ) I bought the younger one for 145,000 in . The average model for 170,000 is not worth the overpayment - for a lot of money we get only + 8 GB of RAM, + 256 GB SSD, + 4.6% of the processor power (judging by the tests). Not beneficial. For the same money, you can buy 32 GB of RAM (you get only 40 GB), and a 1 Terabyte external Samsung Thunderbolt drive, which will be FASTER than the Mac's internal SSD. But the most expensive model for 200 thousand is already interesting, there is already a significantly more powerful processor and video card, but, unfortunately, it was already out of my budget. If you don't use a Mac all the time for heavy tasks, don't worry, the younger one will fly, especially when compared to older models. But if suddenly there is a sale of an older model at an average price (thousands for 175) - it makes sense to add it and buy it! 256 Gb SSD in the younger model is too small, at least 512 is needed, but on the old Mac I didn’t have enough 512, so I use an external 1 Terabyte SSD for Mac OS, and also an external USB 3.0 SSD for 512 for Windows 10. Very convenient . In fact, this is how I switched to a new Mac - I just ated the old and new Macs to the latest version of Catalina, and simply moved the external SSD from the old Mac to the new one, and it worked! Well, after I logged into the new poppy and allowed it to run from external drives in BIOS, now the new security chip is right there. ) 8 gigabytes of RAM is also too little, but you need to take it with them in order to add as much as you need later. With 8 gigabytes, it showed me that about 250 megabytes of RAM was free. When I had 40 GB, I found that 12-16 gigabytes were occupied in idle mode, the rest was free. That is, the system needs at least 16 GB of RAM.

- 5k display with True Tone is just super! A monitor of this caliber costs most of a Mac. I was told that supposedly 4k and 1080p video would look bad on a 5k mac monitor due to upscaling, but no, everything looks great! I compared the same video on YouTube on a 4k monitor and on a poppy - I did not see a difference in image sharpness. On the other hand, I saw a difference in color reproduction and matrix highlights - on the Mac, colors are noticeably better and there are much fewer highlights compared to an inexpensive 4k Philips monitor. The sound of the speakers is excellent. Very nimble - if you're moving from an old Mac with an SSD that you thought would open everything quickly, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The SSD in the base is about 1600/1100 read/write speed. If earlier you worked from an external SSD via USB 3.0, then the speed was a maximum of 500 read / write. That is, the internal SSD has become 3 times faster. Probably the last poppy on which you can run Windows natively - Windows works fine in 5k. And here under Windows a good sound. My previous late 2022 Mac had some bad audio drivers and the sound under Windows was obviously worse than on Mac OS. There is a hatch for upgrading the RAM - I bought 2 Kingston strips of 16 GB each - it was 8Gb, but it became 40Gb of RAM. Well, oddly enough, I will attribute the low price to the pluses. Yes, the 27 "Mac itself costs a lot, but if you compare it with other Macs, the price is low. I have been looking at it for a long time, and I can’t buy it for 120k for a long time - I saw everything under 200 prices. And the new 2022 model began to cost 145k , despite the fact that the 2022 model on the old generation of processors costs from 149k. Macbooks are more expensive, despite being weaker and with a small screen, Mac mini costs about 100, but is inferior in power and does not contain a chic monitor, iMac 21.5" costs several tens less , but they were practically not ated - the old model is on the old generation of processors, and there is no hatch for replacing the memory. And it turns out that the base 27" junior model is the best buy!
- I previously had an iMac 21.5 2022 with i5 intel iris pro. He worked absolutely silently on simple tasks. The cooler could only be heard when running heavy tasks. Here, even in the idle, a slight fan noise is constantly heard. Noise is quiet - if you have music playing quietly or a window is open, this will mask the noise. But in complete silence you can hear it - this is the only thing that disappointed me in this computer - I'm still used to complete silence, and I thought that all poppies are quiet. New ARM-based Macs are likely to be silent. The internal SSD in this model is no longer removable - now it is soldered on the board, and if you do peel off the screen, you will not be able to install a faster and more capacious SSD. But in any case, I would not risk peeling off the display for the sake of upgrading the SSD, and then glue it back on such an expensive thing! ) Many have already said that there are few Thunderbolt ports, and 2 available on the same bus. That is, if your system is installed on a fast external Thunderbolt SSD (one port is occupied), and you also decide to connect a Thunderbolt monitor (the second port is occupied), then you will not connect another Thunderbolt drive - nowhere. I also encountered a problem in the BootCamp program for installing Windows 10 - the driver package that Boot Camp downloaded for me is not installed in Windows - the installation gets stuck on "enumerating pre-install packages" and that's it. Tried to reinstall Windows from scratch - did not help. I installed all the drivers manually in the end, everything works fine, but the native keyboard and mouse are not automatically picked up, as it was on the old poppy. They connect manually, but then they fall off in Mac OS, and you have to reconnect there (inserting the Lightning wire into them). It's inconvenient, I have to connect another keyboard and mouse, on my old poppy there were no problems installing the driver, and the keyboard and mouse worked both in Mac OS and in Windows. But hopefully this will be fixed.
