I bought these socks to provide compression when my feet and ankles started getting very sore after being on my feet all day. I wear a women's size 8 running shoe, putting me right in the middle of the size range for these socks and I find them to be a great fit. They provide me with decent level of compression, without feeling too restrictive. While I am not comfortable wearing them all day, I do find them perfect for recovery in the evening. I think they would do well for post-run recovery, as well.One thing to keep in mind is that these socks do cover a range of sizes (women's 6-10), so the level of compression experienced will be somewhat dependent on individual fit.
