I was pretty fit when I had these, so they served as good exercise shorts over black or flesh-colored modest no-line underwear. They might be too lightweight for someone with lots of flesh to contain. They cannot serve as compression shorts that look similar but are more lightweight. I didn't notice any show through of underwear but I still always wore black or flesh-colored full coverage underwear with no lines showing.These are also great to wear under dresses. They prevent embarrassing wedgies when you get up from a chair or walk along. They prevent the dress from hanging on your hips and let it fall nicely. And, they keep you covered if the wind blows your skirt up. They are long enough that they might be too long to wear under minidresses. You can fold up the bottom to handle that but to be sure it's better to get shorter ones for mini-dresses. I would still have these but we had some smoke damage so I'll probably reorder after I check the current price.
