Heavy, and beautifully made. It is built as a charcoal grate, and is strongly built to withstand repeated direct contact with very hot fires, but I have a different use. It fits perfectly in the rack for the diffuser/water pan in a Broil King Keg kamado grill. That allows me to get the grate low, just above the charcoal, for serious, fast, searing, with a small fire: perfect for my wife and I and perhaps another couple. If I need to sear a lot of burgers or steaks, I don't use the pan rack or this grill, and instead, build a larger fire, and use the factory grill at its lower setting. Its all good.
