For fermenting, that's a great length.If you want something wider than approximately 1-5/8" (this will be particularly good for jars), I'd use some sort of potato masher.*The packaging dilemma: I'm trying to get away from plastic packaging so I don't have to throw it away: How do resolve this dilemma - for any packaging - especially food related?
