Defective for pumping anything

I was looking forward to this cute pump as a lotion dispenser to get rid of ugly plastic bottles the stuff comes in . but it came with defective pump or it just is bad design . It would not even pump water or anything out . Seizes up with hand cream as well . There so far is only one review on it , sent back . Lid is rather cheap plastic .
