They don't sound worse than floorstanding speakers. Monitors make life a lot easier. With the purchase of these babies, there is no need to search for the perfect amplifier, interconnects and speaker cables. I connected it with professional wires to the XLR DAC. No more wiring problems. Monitors YAMAHA HS8 - some pluses. Satisfied with the sound. The Audiolab M DAC has a lot of inputs and a remote control. I use it as a preamp and volume control. Computer, CD, TV, all connected to the DAC. The result was a cool system: DAC plus monitors.
