I'm the world's worst when it come to sunburn (I'm very fair-skinned; I don't sit in the sun at all). I occasionally get a small burn from being outdoors when I didn't expect it, and these are EXCELLENT for alleviating the pain of such a burn, especially if it's underneath clothing. They're a little tricky to handle, but considering the relief they offer, they're well worth it. Be aware that this size is quite small; if you have any sort of large burn (more than a couple of square inches), you'll probably be better off with the larger size(s). I secure these with paper tape (they do not have their own adhesive), and it works well. I recommend these for any sort of minor burn (1st or small 2nd degree); they have saved my sanity on more than one occasion!
