I have to lay my large walking sneakers on the side to fit , they are a bit too tall to stand upright. I can fit 3-4 pair of shoes in depending upon what I am taking. One pair of walking sneakers, flip flops, skeetchers fit no problem. The bag is quite roomy and can easily hold a weekend worth of clothes and your makeup kit. The upper fabric is a heavy twill fabric and I immediately sprayed it with scotchguard to prevent stains. There is a fabric band on one side of the bag so you can hook it over your suitcase handle. I'm sick of the airlines so only planned to use this for driving trips.
