I was looking for a solution to gain traction for yoga on my carpet without using a yoga mat. I have pets, and especially the cats run over as soon as I put a mat down and start shredding it. So I cannot speak to how the socks work with a mat, but I assume it would be the same. The traction parts on the bottom of the sock do what they are supposed to, but the sock itself slides all over and around your foot, so really there is no stability gain when using these socks. Perhaps if they were designed to stay put on your foot more, they might be worth it. But I would not buy these again.
