I get cold feet and decided to switch from the cotton crew socks to wool socks for the winter season. I've seen thick wool socks in the stores and based on the description decided to give these a try. I found these socks to be similar thickness to the cotton crew socks i've been buying from my local stores. I've since gone to stores to allow me to actually 'touch' the sock and confirm thickness and feel are as expected. These are a basic crew sock made of wool - and only keep my toes marginally warmer than the cotton socks i've been wearing. I'll keep them but won't purchase again. Maybe they'll be better when the weather gets warmer.Update - With the changing in seasons i've been wearing these as a lightweight sock and have found them to be comfortable and just what i wanted. My conclusion - great for change of seasons , just not for colder winter temperatures.
