I was worried reading reviews about how difficult it was to add the leashes to the caps, but I had no problems when using a normal pin. My kit did not include a special tool (the instructions no longer mention it; they recommend a pin or ballpoint pen, so they must have stopped shipping it). See photos for what the string mechanism looks like: photo 1 shows how far you can push it into the small hole by hand; photo 2 shows the needle hooking into the loop and pulling it out using the horizontal space on the side.Aside from some very minor scuffs on the outer edge of the caps, they are pretty sturdy and fit securely on the lens and UV filter. Packaging was nice as the caps were individually wrapped. For the price, it's a great deal, and I hopefully will never have to worry about lost lens covers this size again!
