She has arthritis in the neck extending through both shoulders and into her upper arm joints. This naturally wraps around these specific areas and is weighted just enough to stay in place comfortably. It fits similarly to a shawl. There is a minor failure in that the 'arms' on the wrap are too short to overlap with the elastic holding strap for an average size adult - nice idea but not well executed - but the pad rests perfectly over the shoulders and upper chest. Microwave heating time is 2-3 minutes (including a flip) and there was no flax seed scent after the first couple of uses. No other heat/cool pad options have been as good a fit for neck and shoulder coverage and she likes the option of not being "tied to an outlet" as she is with an electric pad. Heat lasts for about an hour but we are in Florida!
