Bought this to keep my phone dry when at pool, beach, and when on my long hikes. The black string that hooks strap to pouch broke on the first day. I guess I can hook the key ring onto the pouch - but it won't be as simple to remove and replace as the black snap clip would be. I haven't tested the waterproof ability - but didn't plan on subjecting it to actual underwater activity - just splashes, sand and perspiration. Seems like it would be okay for that.After the seller saw my initial review, they sent me a brand new product. They were very concerned about my satisfaction. Despite the product being brand new, I now don't trust the small black string with my my $500+ smart phone - that being said, I now have the pouch hooked up to the heavy duty key ring so as to not take any chances with my phone. Because of the great customer service, I have increased my rating from 2 to 4 stars. For the money, it is a good product - but I would suggest not trusting the thin black string with the safety of a valuable smart phone.
