We actually used this to replace where the cat had scratched another post bare. We liked the flexibility of it as well as the sturdiness. Others we found were either too flimsy or too stiff. We cut off the part that goes over the furniture. (Note: This is a great design; it just didn't suit our purpose.) Then we stapled the scratching part over the other post. Voila! It worked great. Rubbed with a little catnip, and kitty is scratching it like crazy! Keeps her happy and healthy and saves our furniture.
