I bought this to build out supporting arms for my mitre saw stand. Imagine a 24" x 28" - 3/4 ply propped up by a pair of these. There is enough side to side play in each one that it was hard to install them and get the arm to close 100%. So I have to mount these to the main body and then attach the ply when this is in closed position. which is impossible because in closed position you cannot reach behind.So I had to attach a small in-between piece between this and the ply. Say a narrow strip of 3/4 ply. First attach the narrow strip to each one of these. Bring both the brackets to closed position. Then screw the real piece to the in-between piece from the outside. flip it open. and then add more screws from behind. And you can remove the screw you put from the top (optional). Not sure if the explanation make sense.But if you are expecting a quick 10 minute install, then this is nor for you. I have also bought a more expensive one for my table saw arm. Will see if the same problem applies there or not.Once installed, it works well. It has been 3 weeks or so. So not much chance for wear and tear. Will post an update later on.
