Because this is a control top hose, it will pinch a bit at your thighs, so I smooth it out by rolling some of the material at my knees. My husband hates the look of this thing and laughs at me, but again, I bought it for medicinal purposes and not for style. It is matte, not sheer. If you can wear it under pants you can live with it, but not with a skirt. I am usually size small in clothes, but I ordered a large. Again, good value for the money, use it for medicinal support and not for fashion!
