I bought these socks to go for a 3 day hike in Colorado in the summer. I was looking for mid height socks that had enough cushion to support my feet while not being too thick that my feet would be too hot and these were perfect. They stayed up, they have the perfect amount of compression, were easy to air out and have stood up against some serious uses. Also, in the winter (in Michigan) I use them as my sock boots and they're cute enough to put them over my skinny jeans with a little sticking out. I wear a woman's 8.5 and these were perfect. I would say if you're unsure what size to get, go up in size. If you went smaller the foot part of the sock would probably fit fine, but the top part might be a little tight.
