It was very easy to install, even in my older 1940's miniature junction box. 5 minutes start to finish, i'm very glad I didn't try to install cans or some other type of recessed lighting that would have required plaster work. However, this is my first experiment with recessed or recessed-like lighting and I'm not sure I like the result. Compared to my previous nipple-style light fixtures, the light on these faces downwards much more clearly. The corners of my ceiling look distinctly darker now, which I really dislike. Also, the area underneath the light is almost oppressively bright. I think I will be investing in a dimmer switch if I choose to keep the fixture where it is.Update. guess I didn't read and missed that it wasn't dimmable. Pretty sure i'm going to remove the light and get one that doesn't make my kitchen look like its underneath a spotlight all the time.
