The translucent mat is lighter than I thought and you can still see the pattern of the quartz through it so thats nice. The XL mat is perfect under my Bunn coffee maker and leaves room in front for cups and coffee prep area to protect the countertop. Prior to purchase , some coffee spilled underneath the coffeemaker and sat there and it did end up staining the quartz some because it wasn't cleaned up right away. Now I don't have to worry about that anymore with this mat. Used the second mat for prep area next to it for smoothie prep as college kids are home and cleanup is not their forte!
