We installed outside, in brick above the sliding glass doors to our covered patio. The door is a heavy 8' and hard to open and close when you've been in the pool or have food or drinks in-hand. Air flow is sufficient to keep cool temp in the house, but not quite all the Florida humidity out. But for a gathering of people, it works great so as to not have to open and close the slider.
