The fabric is soft with just enough stretchy stuff to keep its shape. The length, shirt-tail curve of the hem, and side slits are perfect. I'm not a fan of pockets (zippers either) in general because they're useless, lumpy in the wrong places, and overall detract from the lines of a garment. The pockets on this dress are definitely lumpy, and they are located at the widest part of the hip and abdomen, which is a truly unfortunate design flaw for plus/curvy women. I'm fortunate that I have sewing/alteration skills, as I will be removing those unflattering pockets post haste.
