On a dated motherboard (Asus P5G41T-M LE), Win7 32-bit works perfectly through this controller with an external hard drive (on USB 3.0). Nearly 40Mb/s are written. Prior to that, I attempted to use splitters and converters to connect an external drive to two USB 2.0 ports (to have enough power), but the attempt was largely unsuccessful (it only worked when one of the two USB 2.0 connectors was linked to a USB port on a different card reader rather than the mother). And now everything runs smoothly.
