With our second baby coming soon and having a 2 year old, we needed a two camera baby monitor system. If you are anything like me, a baby camera is absolutely essential for survival as a parent, so making sure you have the best quality one was really important for me.For the past two years we have used the Levana Astra (now discontinued) and have enjoyed it. After testing three different two camera baby monitor systems (Motorola, Levana Mila and Moonybaby), we ultimately chose the Levana Mila and decided the Motorola was not a good fit for us and returned it. Here are reasons why and some good things about it too:Pros:1. Split screen! Super handy for having two children soon2. Wide range of screen brightness - this feature is great if you take the monitor outdoors and need to be able to keep an eye on your little ones in the bright sun. It can also be very dim for darker rooms too3. It does the job. It monitors the babies, picks up sound well, can remotely move the camera with the parent unit, no WiFi needed, lullabies built in to the camera, etc.4. Customer service was very responsive via emailCons1. You must buy their products or another separate product to hang the camera on the wall. I’ve never seen a baby camera have a tripod type mount on the bottom. Typically cameras include a few screws and it’s incredibly easy to hang. With this camera currently priced at $168, it’s not fun to be required to spend additional money on some sort of fancy mounting system when a simple screw in the wall would do.2. The camera view is very zoomed in and is NOT wide angle at all. In order to see even most of the crib it would have to mounted near the ceiling or placed very far away. And then if you have it on split screen, forget being able to see both babies effectively3. Monitor beeps very loudly when it loses connection and cannot be turned off until it gains connection again. This is a personal pet peeve of mine as I’d prefer to have a monitor that doesn’t beep at all when losing connection. Some people may not care about this.4. Image quality was not quite what I expected for a camera at this price range. Keep in mind my expectations were not super high and I was fully aware this is not an HD camera.There’s a few other smaller cons but I don’t feel worth listing as the above covers my biggest complaints. Does it do the job? Yes! But I found another camera that just does it better.
