Wipe it really well with a paper towel first
I loved the idea. I bought it bc the velcro one was sold out. I started to write on it and saw it wasnt 'sticking'. So I took a paper towel. Wiped any oily or waxy residue off and boom ANY dry erase marker works well on it now. I do cover line up with plastic wrap to prevent kids from accidentally scratching names off or erasing it if they rub up against it
