Although the almost 8 year old is tall for his size, it's hard to imagine this would fit someone larger than a 10 year old and still be able to use the hand pockets. Head wise, it would fit but the pockets wouldn't hang low enough. The 8 year old LOVES this and has barely taken it off since it got here. The webbing is strong and works well. Only suggestion is to make the D rings slightly different in shape or size, so that one D ring can be inserted through the other one to make a loop.
