The whole thing zips close and it says it is waterproof so that is great. My Husky has a more sturdy fixed handle but it has an open top. This one has a long flexible strap and is really made to just pick up and carry around if you need it. Something that is not that easy on most tool boxes and bags. UPDATE: Two years and 23,000 miles later:Kr@p.Can't mount it tight enough without damaging factory paint at the door hinge. Tried using nylon washers to cushion the interface between this part's steel and the paint on the hinge. 1. hassle-factor. 2. doesn't work. Any torquing soft enough to not damage the paint leaves the foot rest too loose. Liked this product because the adhesive is repositionable. However, be sure to spray BOTH sides to get maximum adhesion. This is different than other adhesives I've used, so was my fault for not reading the instructions thoroughly.
