The zipper is not the smoothest. It has a bit of "industrial" smell out of the package. But I liked it well enough to buy 3 of them for myself and 1 for my wife. I ordered the heavier blonde/brown which has red in it. It is the thickest one I’ve had. My hair blends well and I added tiny clips to secure it more. I would recommend it. When I received this item, it was in two pieces. The company had not carved it out of one piece of wood. The connection was not glued together, so it did cause some damage. I repaired it and painted it and used it as it was since it wouldn't be that noticeable. These mats are perfect. If someone says the corners do not line up then they linked the wrong side. Take your time putting these mats down and put pressure on each piece you link so they flatten out. The smell isn’t bad , it smells like a typical gym. Air it out a day or 2 and you’re fine. I love these mats!
