This crate feels very sturdy and is definitely nicer than the wire crates, and I bet it would work well for most dogs, but our super anxious pit bull was able to slide the bottom out part out and escape. I would say the cutout for the camera is at least 1/4 inch deep and offers very good protection if you drop the phone flat on its back. The fabric and design of the pillow cover is really nice. It's of good quality and all of the seams are sewn together well. The pillow insert, however, is too small for the pillow cover. Not only is it flat, the pillow insert is smaller than the pillow cover itself, which is very obvious when sitting on the couch. The pillow insert should be at least an 1"x1" bigger than the cover, which this is not (which is why I deducted 2 stars).
