I needed a harder lead to do some woodworking, the harder lead creates a sharper finer line than a #2.This pencil lead (graphite) is harder and does provide a finer line. I haven't found the lead to be an issue, however the wood is another thing.The wood does not cut/sharpen smoothly leaving a very rough surface. Am willing to try these.they seemed to have good reviews and they DO look nice, but they are very thin. Some people may like that feature for using on hot items but I prefer thicker.especially when putting a hot steaming pan from stove top onto one and the countertop and potholder became wet.
