the ends curled after first wash before we even got the chance to use it. Front is cotton and back material is fleece.Otherwise it feels soft enough. I like the size of this mat, and it is heavy enough for our front stoop that it doesn't "fly away". You can wipe off your shoes without it moving around. Stays in place nicely. I'm very experienced with resin and can tell you this thing was nothing other than horrible. The first time I used it, it stuck to every side and completely ruined my project. If you've ever used resin you know how much it takes to fill this pyramid and how much was wasted.
