UA matrial is more dense, but may be a bit thinner. This product is a little fluffier and a tiny bit translucent. But great for the price. Ok as cold time before wear. Dont waste your money on this replacement cartridge. Through trial and error, I found that it barely filtered out sediments and left a bad taste in my water. This isn't something you would want in your living room, but for a utility area it's just fine. I installed three of these in our basement playroom, where they have been able to resist getting hit by balls.
