I bought this to gild a laser etched logo on oil rubbed rosewood. The only trouble I had was masking such a small area and the grain of the wood happened to run perpendicular to the direction of the etching so the tack was hard to keep from seeping into unmasked areas-it naturally wanted to follow the grooves of the rosewood grain and not the etched areas. I tested these out at work, walking on a concrete floor for 8 hours. They were very comfortable. I don't know how that translates to hiking, but hopefully very well because I will be using them for that. I love my Nikes, but these beat them hands down, and when I packed these in my suitcase and went back to my old shoes I felt it immediately.
