I'm not really sure why exercise bikes are always made with young people in mind as far as the seats are concerned. Even when I was young, narrow seating would bother me within minutes. This is exactly what I was (you are) looking for. Seems to be a solid cargo basket, except for the space between the metal extension and the front and back sections. I wouldn’t put any weight directly in the gap. The directions are very simple to follow, but I did use my own Allen tool since this came with a cheap Allen that stripped on the first bolt.
