Rubber padding on the bottom keeps it from slipping. I bought two different brands to try out and chose to keep this one. Definitely a good buy. We just set it up so it too soon to give a full review. However, the screws for the base were missing and the color Navy is definitely not Navy. It is more like a navy/grey color - almost like denim. It does not look like the Navy in the picture when ordered. Umbrella also sways with the wind so I am not sure how it will hold up on windy days. While you get a lot of candles in a batch, they are so strong in odor that even the delivery guy commented! My friends - who love all of my reject candles - would not touch these.
