I made my first coaster using one of the "pebbly" molds and I was pretty happy with it, though the process was a bit more difficult than it needed to be (more later). Then I tried using one of the "wavy" molds and I discovered they're useless. If you use them one way up you get a very uneven surface which I wouldn't trust to put a cup or glass on. As another reviewer said, that defeats the purpose of a coaster. If you use them the other way up you get a reasonably even (though sparse) top but a *very* thin bottom. OK if you're backing it with something else; otherwise no. I had no intention of using the rack anyway, so can't comment on that.The problem even with the pebbly mold was that there's no reasonable way to do a second pour for the "fill" between the raised bits. It would have been nice if the flip side of the mold was flat so you could just flip over the result from the first pour and get a good seal, but it's the reverse of the original pattern so there are gaps. Resin from the second pour will run in around the edges and ruin the bottom. The only way I can think of to get a good result would be to use wax or something to fill in the gaps in the flip side before doing the second pour. Or you could just grind off the excess and then polish, but *neither* of these extra steps should be necessary.It's just a poor set of molds, like whoever designed it has never actually used resin. You can do better.
